Manaslu Circuit Trek

This is a wild, isolated and challenging circuit, but is a great alternative to the Annapurna Circuit which has lost most of its natural shine. Some of the trails in the Annapurna circuit have turned into roads, & decreases the older program of the Anna Circuit; doing the Manaslu Circuit gives you more options as you view virgin land that not many visit, & the landscapes are equally beautiful in comparison to any other region in Nepal…

The Manaslu Circuit trip takes of from the historical Gorkha Kingdom in the mid-west of Nepal. The trek clings to the raging upstream of the Buri-Gandaki river that’s known for its rafting thrills all over the world. As we wade into the sub-tropical forest to the dry Tibetan zone, which gives us awesome views of Mt. Manaslu at 8156m, the eighth highest peak in the world along with the scenes of the surrounding magnificent peaks that straddle the border with arid mysterious Tibet.

The Manaslu region, a known restricted area, is not developed as much as any of the other trekking regions of Nepal’s Himalaya; and this circuit geographically located in an area that’s home to the world’s 8th highest mountain is just the kind of challenge for the mountain daredevils who love a challenge when it comes along, especially for the green horns who are eager to go all out for the first time. The odyssey blasts of from Arughat, a pretty well off local souk in central Nepal. Our trail goes through bamboo forests and clings to the side of cliffs in deep gorges, going deep into the heart of the Kutang Region. This region is mainly home to the ethnic Gurung community, who practice Buddhism. The journey then continues into the Nupri Region, a captivating area occupied by descendents of Tibetan lineage. Complimenting these divergent cultures are some superb vistas that ignite our imaginations, with gasping views of Manaslu (8,163m) and the Himalayas

The hike plods on over the highest point of our journey at Larky la. From the top of the pass, it’s a roller coaster trip down-hill through tranquil alpine forests and meadows till we come to the junction of the Annapurna circuit, after being on the main track for a few days our journey continues towards Pokhara via another secret route seldom used by trekkers offering stunning views of the Manaslu and Annapurna range including the majestic Mt. Machhapuchare (Fish Tail) as walk at our own pace through traditional mid hill villages bubbling with life & culture as old as the mountains…

Gorkha is a hill town and the ancestral home of the Shah dynasty which ruled Nepal till very recently. It is from here that King Prithvi Narayan Shah embarked on a conquest of the country's various tiny kingdoms and unified them into a single nation, Nepal. Perched one thousand feet above Gorkha Bazaar, the palace dominates the surroundings and is visible from every angle in the vicinity.

The palace also boasts beautiful architecture made from ancient wood. All though only Hindus are allowed to enter the palace premises, it is worthwhile walking up the stairs for some stunning views that speaks of a bloody history that made Nepal what it is today…

AN IMPORTANT NOTE: While every effort has been made to keep to the above itinerary, however, as this is adventure travel in remote mountain territory, we cannot guarantee the program stated above! Weather conditions, availability of porters and the health of team members can all contribute to changes. The guides and their Sherpa assistants will try to ensure that the trip runs according to plan, but please be prepared to be flexible if necessary. However, in most cases, your itinerary is well planned to detail & the trip proceeds exactly as mentioned in the itinerary…all we request is just to be prepared for any eventualities that may occur due to global changes in weather patterns happening throughout the world.
